Katie is an elderly female greyhound of around 13 years of age who came into our care in February 2017. She was unwanted by her owners who stated that they got her off the free ads a couple of years ago and no longer want her as she was stealing food. On arrival in rescue we discovered she had been neglected. She had not been walked, she did not have her own collar and lead, her nails were overgrown and curled right round, she was in pain and covered in urine stains. When arriving at rescue and checked by a vet she was found to have multiple mammary tumours which could not be safely operated on due to her age and their size/position. Katie received extensive dental treatment and was given palliative care and remained at Hounds First as a permanent foster dog until she passed away in November 2017 after a stroke. She was much loved by her foster mum Julie and her son Lucas and will be sadly missed.
