Bess is a female whippet cross of 6 years old – she stands at 21 inches to the shoulder.
Bess is a sensible, lovable dog who is a very easy girl to live with.
She is friendly with other dogs and people – although can be shy at first and will approach in her own time. This is not a problem though as she just keeps her distance before choosing to approach. She prefers women to men.
Bess does whine a fair bit (she is in season at the moment and will be needing time to settle in a new home) – although this may also just be a personality quirk!
She does show some separation anxiety and seems to bond strongly with women. She just really loves to be in your company and will attach herself to you very quickly.
She’s massively food-orientated and will choose food most of the time over anything else, but once the food has gone away she will get upset if you’re not around any more. We think she can be trained out of the separation anxiety but will never be the kind of dog that is happy being left during full time working hours, even with visitors throughout the day.
Bess loves being around the other dogs now she has settled and will happily sit with them on the sofa. She actually copes better being left with another dog loose in the house (as opposed to being in a crate) to play with.
She is fine around kids but as she is quite shy would probably prefer a home with older relaxed kids or an adult only home.
Bess has lovely manners and walks fabulously on the lead. Sometimes she jumps up at you but will get down when you tell her to. She will get off your bed or off the sofa immediately if you ask her to. She absolutely loves being spoken to and generally interacted with.
Bess is a proper well-mannered, polite lady who will bring somebody an awful lot of joy.
She travels well in the car.
She would be fine with a fence of 4-5 ft high.
Bess will be homed with a neutering contract to be spayed in April 2019 as she is just coming to the end of her season.
