Zeke

Zeke

  • Zeke is a 2 year old greyhound x collie.  He stands 26 inches to the shoulder.
  • He walks nicely on the lead but does sometimes pull a little when he wants to meet another dog. He greets other dogs well and enjoys play.  A new owner would need to build up new experiences and new doggy friends gradually for him at first so as not to overwhelm him though.
  • Zeke has previously lived with a cat and we feel he could be homed with a confident cat with precautions and careful introductions.
  • His recall is not good and even with work, he may never be able to be let of lead in unsecured areas.
  • He does show some desire to chase wildlife but is easily distracted.
  • Zeke can be left for up to 4 hours at a time in the company of another dog.
  • We feel Zeke needs the company of another dog in the home.
  • He is crate trained and housetrained and will ask to go out.
  • Zeke travels well in the car.
  • He loves both adults and children. He is a big bouncy and sometimes clumsy boy though so this would need to be taken into account if homing him with young children.
  • Zeke’s foster mum describes him as a silly, overgrown puppy who just adores social interaction, whether it be a dog, cat or person.
  • Zeke was quite shy and timid when first coming into foster but now that he is more settled his character is coming out.
  • He is very communicative and will bark or whine if he wants something. You are never left in any doubt of when he thinks it is time for food, or if he wants to go for a walk or in the garden.
  • He’s a clever boy who understands lots of instructions already and would enjoy learning more.
  • We feel that Zeke would benefit from an active home where he will get opportunities for mental as well as physical activity once fully settled. However, he will also enjoy times of calm cuddling on the sofa with his family.
  • Zeke is in foster in Leicester.
