Sammy is a pretty 3-4 year old female saluki/bull lurcher.
She stands at 27 inches to the shoulder.
Sammy is a VERY affectionate girl who loves cuddles and fuss from her foster carer. She loves to lie next to her on the sofa with her head resting on her foster mums shoulder.
She is happy relaxing or out and about and would make a great jogging buddy! She has been attending park run events with her foster carer.
She is a typical saluki – she likes to make ‘rooing’ noises to her foster carer.
She loves playing with toys.
Sammy can be a little nervous of meeting new people but she loves meeting children! Her foster carer has been working on this and once she has got to know someone at her own pace she likes to lean on them and have her side stroked and she doesn’t forget you – once you are her friend thats it for life!
She is very happy being left and has no separation anxiety.
She knows lots of basic commands including ‘sit’, ‘down’, ‘wait’, ‘come’ and ‘off’. She would love an owner to carry on her training.
She can live with other dogs or could be homed as an only dog – a relaxed male dog would be ideal to keep her company.
Sammy would be best in a home without young children but older teenagers who are used to dogs may be ok. She can jump up a bit and mouth but this will settle over time.
She recalls well in the house and garden but isn’t offlead in the park.
Sammy has been attending regular training sessions at a local dog training club and is getting very comfortable with seeing other dogs out and about – she would love an owner to keep up the hard work her foster mum has put in to making her happier to be out and about meeting furry friends.
Sammy does have prey drive and would not be safe around small furries or livestock.
All in all she is a total love bug – happy with a good run then to settle for the day – a loving companion for the evenings. A beautiful girl looking for her own sofa for way too long!
