Sammy is a pretty 3 year old female saluki/bull lurcher.
She stands at 27 inches to the shoulder.
Sammy is a VERY affectionate girl who loves cuddles and fuss from her foster carer. She loves to lie next to her on the sofa with her head resting on my shoulder.
She thrives on exercise and would make a great running buddy! She has been attending park run events with her foster carer.
She is a typical saluki – she can be vocal and likes to ‘talk’ to her foster carers.
She loves playing with toys throwing them around and tug of war.
Sammy can be nervous of meeting new people out and about and needs an owner who will allow her to grow and develop in confidence with positive training and gentle treatment. Once she has got to know someone at her own pace she likes to lean on them and have her side stroked.
She is happy being left for several hours in the company of the resident dogs.
She knows lots of basic commands including ‘sit’, ‘down’, ‘wait’, ‘come’ and ‘off’.
She can live with other dogs and would be best with a calm resident male dog to keep her company. She can be a bit boisterous for some dogs.
As she is a bouncy energetic girl Sammy would be best in a home without young children but older teenagers who are used to dogs may be ok.
She can have issues with some dogs out and about in the park – she is getting better but can be reactive to some.
She recalls well in the house and garden but isn’t offlead in the park.
Sammy does have prey drive and would not be safe around small furries or livestock.
