Kylo is a 19 month old male neutered lurcher – we are not 100% sure what goes into his mix – possibly Belgian shepherd or deerhound. Whatever it is he is a big lad who stands at nearly 30 inches to the shoulder.
Kylo is basically a big, silly, very hairy puppy. He is very trainable when motivated and has been doing clicker training in his foster home.
He can be rather unsure of some people and new situations, especially men. This comes out as barking to get them to go away. He is much improved since coming into rescue which was a bit of a shock for him.
Kylo needs a home with a family who can learn how to understand and manage him when he is unsure to help him gain confidence and let him settle rather than putting under pressure.
He already knows lots of commands – Sit, Stay, Down, Heel, Come and Off.
Kylo shows some interest in wildlife and livestock but can be distracted – he is fine around horses.
He is fine being left for 2-3 hours and settles well after exercise.
Kylo is really good with the other dogs in the home and out and about. He can play a bit rough but is happy to be told off by other dogs and backs off. Settles well after initial play. Gives up toys and chews to the other dogs as well. No disputes or issues at all but as he is very large other dogs in the home need to be robust!
He doesnt pull much for such a big dog and is not phased by traffic and loves going out in the car.
Kylo would LOVE a home to give him lots of input and guidance – play tug games and teach him new tricks. He has lived with children in the past – due to his size and being unsure in some situations a home with older children would be more suitable.
He is clean indoors.
Lovely and affectionate boy – with amazing looks! His coat will require some maintenance to keep him clean.
