Fern – not ready for homing

Fern – not ready for homing

  • Fern (was called Sausage when she came in) – is a little lurcher girl of 22 inches to the shoulder
  • She is 1 year old.
  • Fern was taken to the vet with injuries consistent with having been thrown from a moving car. Her owners could not be traced and she was signed over to the rescue to recover after vet treatment. She is all healed now and has the all clear from the vets.
  • Despite her poor treatment she loves everyone and is gentle around children.
  • Fern does have prey drive and cannot be homed with cats.
  • She is totally house trained and will ask to go out.
  • She is still a young dog and may whine a bit when left and chew the odd shoe.
  • She would be fine with a fence of 4-5 ft high.
  • Fern’s recall is progressing and she will come back if there are no distractions.
  • Fern is a lovely and friendly dog. Gets attached to her guardians very quickly and displays some separation issues. Likes to get up early – about 6.30am and sleeps nicely in her own bed in the human bedroom.
  • She is reactive to dogs outside the home and this is being worked on at the moment with her foster carers so she is not quite ready to go to a new home just yet.
  • Fern is in foster in York.
