She came into our care after suffering from a broken leg and being left at the vets to be put to sleep – her leg is now on the mend but she is still on restricted exercise.
We would like to find her a new home for her to finish her recovery – the new owner will have to stick to reduced exercise until the leg is mended. Hounds First will continue to cover the costs of treatment for the leg.
Elsa is a delightful dog when she feels secure and knows her person.
She does get upset when being left – she would be happier with someone around most of the time.
She is very nervous of strangers, particularly men, but one or two people she has taken an instant liking to. She is much improved from when she first arrived.
Elsa does like other dogs, but is sometimes very choosy about what she sees as her personal space, and can be growly if it is invaded and may snap at other dogs if they push it too far. She has also been in pain and hopefully as this subsides she will be more tolerant.
Elsa has good recall in the home and garden – due to her broken leg she has not gone off lead outside of the garden.
She can sometimes guard sofas and her crate.
Due to her sensitive and nervous nature we feel an adult only home will be best for Elsa.
She knows some commands including sit.
Elsa is mostly house trained but doesn’t yet know how to ask to go out.
