Cagney is a stunning and friendly saluki x girl who is 8 months old and stands 21 inches to the shoulder.
She currently eats and sleeps in a crate – she arrived fully crate trained. She settles well immediately with a kong and the radio on. She sleeps well overnight in the crate.
Like any young dog she may still chew and is basically a big puppy still needing to be supervised at times.
She is bouncy and does jump up though is slowly learning. She also will counter surf if given the chance.
Cagney’s recall on long line is pretty good – she will come back with out distraction. However, in typical saluki style she will look to go looking for things of interest down holes and in ditches.
She gets on brilliantly with other dogs in foster with 5 resident dogs and goes out daily on walks with all sorts of other dogs. She loves to play with other dogs-the faster and higher-energy the better as far as she’s concerned. She may need to be muzzled for play due to a tendency to nip in a characteristic sighthound way and not for aggression.
Cagney loves people, she loves to cuddle up on the sofa of an evening or is always up for a game with toys!
She currently gets 30 minute walk in the morning, an hour at lunch and 15 minutes on lead in the evening. She wears a harness with longline on the first two walks, she can pull a little on the lead but isn’t strong.
She is just a typical exuberant puppy who is now learning how to interact better with a whole range of other dogs.
Cagney is happy meeting new people out and about and could live with kids from around 8 years upwards – she’s a bit too bouncy for younger ones.
Cagney does have some prey drive – she would chase birds and squirrels but fine around horses and cattle.
Her house training is still a work in progress – its doing well but she does need to be encouraged to go out.
Cagney is happy travelling in the car.
She would need a fence of 6ft – she has jumped a high baby gate in the home.
