Benji – needs a foster or forever home

Benji – needs a foster or forever home

  • Benji is a stunning 19 month old male rough coated lurcher who stands 27 inches to the shoulder.
  • He needs a new foster home and ideally someone who can foster with a view to adopting him. He recently returned to Hounds First after being adopted as a puppy as he was struggling being left alone.
  • Benji is VERY child and people friendly and can live with other laid back dogs once intros have been done although he may resource guard food so care needs to be taken around high value treats and chews. He can bark at strange dogs when out and about. He can not be homed with cats.
  • He may pull a bit on the lead and this needs more work but he is making good progress.
  • He ideally needs an home with someone who is used to dogs that have separation issues and is around all day while he learns how to settle in a new home. He needs to be homed with a friendly dog of similar size to provide reassurance. He is starting to make a little progress at settling now and will take himself off for short periods.
  • Benji love going out in the car!
  • He is house trained but may have the odd accident while he is settling.
  • Benji will need a home where the fence is 6ft or more.
  • He’s soft and loving dog and a bed hogger!!  He will make a great family pet with the right input.
  • Hounds First will cover the costs of his transport, provide food, flea and wormer and cover any vet bills while he is in foster. We will also provide behavioural support from a local positive and reward based dog behaviourist. Applicants must be willing to work under guidance and support from Hounds First to help Benji settle and grow in confidence.
  • Benji is currently in Glendee kennels in Hatfield being assessed and we will update his write up when we have more info.
